Love and Freedom: the foundations of Paradise
Neither love nor freedom ever lasts for long without the other. Includes a brief (several pages) reminder of the extent to which Power harms adults, children, and the human condition generally.

The Relationship of Adverse Childhood Experiences to Adult Health: Turning gold into lead. by Vincent J. Felitti. [PDF file] This is an article, with charts for the surprising data, on the large ACE study (17,421 participants) by a co-designer of the study. The findings are amazing. For example:

"In addition to these examples, we found many other measures of adult health have a strong, graded relationship to what happened in childhood: heart disease, fractures, diabetes, obesity, unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and alcoholism were more frequent. Occupational health and job performance worsened progressively as the ACE Score increased."

Three Teachings on Compassion
Largely Ignored by Christians, Jesus’ Own Words on Key Subjects Present an Insightful and Workable Approach for Creating a More Compassionate World

Relative Dangers to children: Lack of Breast Feeding vs. Firearms

How another paradigm already saved the world -- from infectious disease. Of course, this one is still in progress. Still, it has already saved and improved the lives of billions -- yes, that's "billions with a B" -- and prevented untold misery.

The British Government Report on Summerhill School from 1949. This English school, founded in 1921, is run on the principle of compassion and freedom for children -- to an extent that most people find hard to believe. A seven-year-old has the same vote as the headmaster in most things (and the headmaster has the same right to have his or her property respected, for instance, as does the seven-year-old). How does it all work? Decide for yourself, after reading the report. Sudbury Valley School in America (and other schools run on the same model) show similar results.

The Bill of Rights
To say it again: Love does not long survive without respect for human rights. The Bill of Rights was one attempt to preserve human rights, and the text of these first ten amendments to the US constitution should surely be more widely known. The link above will let you download each of these amendments as a JPG image file to use (for example) as a screensaver.
